Why Aqua-dapter was overall winner of the Innovation Award

Products and equipment available to those whose job it is to clean are constantly being improved but generally these upgrades come in small steps. Occasionally though, something is launched that turns cleaning on its head... the first ever floor cleaning machine, for example... or microfibre... or, in the case of window cleaning, the water fed pole - which allows cleaners to tackle windows several stories up without the need for abseiling equipment, cherry pickers, hook systems or ladders.

One negative aspect of some of the water fed poles on the market has been the user's inability to accurately control the flow of water, but this issue can be easily resolved with the Aqua-dapter - a new device that is easy to fit to your pole in seconds using the optional Screw Thread Adapter, and which removes the need for annoying loops hose, belt attachments, remote control devices and the like. You simply pull the hose at the bottom of your pole to turn the water on or off. The tap can also be turned manually if you are working on ground level windows.

Stopping the water flow between windows saves water and will cut costs in areas where there are charges for metered water usage. It means that less resin has to be purchased. More importantly, as water is not wasted between windows, the number of jobs you can complete each day is greatly increased, allowing you to so earn more money.

"There are a number of problems with some of the existing methods of water flow control," says Aqua-dapter's Paul Wright.

"One - manually folding/kinking the hose, requires you to keep one hand on the hose, or leave the water running while you extend or collapse the pole, which is clumsy and can waste water.

"Some triggers can be awkward to use and often have an irritating loop of hose which twists, making it difficult to extend the water fed pole; remote controls need batteries and you have to be within range for them to work, while holsters attached to your waist mean you are attached to the hose. As well as feeling rather restricted, you can also get the problem of wet trousers!

"Aqua-dapter has been specifically developed by a window cleaner in the UK to overcome these - and other problems associated with water flow control. It is fitted to the top section of your water fed pole, then your existing brush can be screwed on to the aluminium screw thread which is part of the Aqua-dapter. The hose goes down the inside of your water fed pole, allowing you to switch the water flow on or off by simply pulling on the hose at the bottom of the pole.

The device is suitable for both hot and cold water fed Pole systems and comes with 10m of hose to ensure optimum performance.

The Aqua-dapter was tested and developed for nearly two years before going into production.
Every individual part is high-quality and has been rigorously tested.
