FAQs

What are the differences between the Aqua-dapter® Mk2 and the Mk3?

The Mk3 is lighter, easier to fit, and no longer needs a clamp.

  • Now 180g – 35g lighter than a Mk2 with End Screw Adapter and Push Fit Straight Connector, but just as robust.
  • The design no longer includes the Aluminium pipe, so the Aqua-dapter is faster and easier to fit… feed the hose through the pole and out of the top, push the hose into the connector, screw the No.1 section of the pole into the Aqua-dapter® – that’s it!
  • The Aqua-dapter now has an integral screw thread so it fits directly onto most poles without the need for an End Screw Adapter or Clamp – no clamp to get caught on cills (or anything else) and fitting is easier.
  • A robust push-fit connector is now fitted inside the body of the Aqua-dapter®; protected from any knocks or bangs when fitting or in use, so increasing durability (and no Aluminium pipe needed).
  • Available in new anodized colours: Silver, Blue, Red and Gold.

Is it easy to fit?

Yes, the Aqua-dapter doesn't require any modification to your pole and no tools are necessary.  It can be fitted in less than 5 minutes.

Do I have to use your hose?

We recommend that you use the supplied hose because the Aqua-dapter®  is operated by pulling on the hose to switch the flow on and off.  Our hose is manufactured from a material that stays more consistent in cold and warm weather and is low stretch unlike cheaper PVC hose.  9 out of 10 of our customers rate our hose "Good" or "Excellent".

Can I use hot water with my Aqua-dapter and the hose you supply?

Yes, since the Mk2 the Aqua-dapter® has been suitable for use with Water Fed Pole systems using hot water.

While both of our hoses can be used with hot water, our dark red hose is particularly suitable, as it is a little stiffer at ambient temperatures.  We recommend fitting a tube strengthening insert if using our orange hose with hot water.

There is some softening of the hose, which is to be expected.  This also means that the hose may stretch slightly, making the pull distance when operating the Aqua-dapter a little further so please avoid pulling too hard on the hose if using with hot water.

Do I need an Aqua-dapter® for each of my poles?

Not necessarily. The Aqua-dapter® is designed to be swapped between poles, and can be swapped very quickly.  For convenience we would recommend attaching an Aqua-dapter® to each pole you use regularly.

Do you supply Aqua-dapter® outside the UK?

Yes, we ship our product overseas.  We also have distributors in the USA.

What is the weight of the Aqua-dapter®?

Every effort has been made to make Aqua-dapter® light, yet strong and durable. It weighs 180g (just over 6oz).  See Technical Info.  We are always looking for ways to reduce the weight and length of future versions, but will not compromise on the strength and durability of the product.

Will the hose keep coming off with regular use?

We have tested this enough to satisfy ourselves that our hoses will stay on with repeated use.  The hose fittings are similar to those used in pneumatic applications.  See Technical Info.

Do I need to cut my pole to fit an Aqua-dapter®?

No, it is not necessary to cut your pole.  An Aqua-dapter® Mk3 can be fitted to a pole in a couple of minutes, without any modification to the pole.

When fitting the original "Mk1" Aqua-dapter®, we recommended that the end screw was removed to ensure a secure fit, and so that the push-fit connector could move freely.  Cutting the pole was often the easiest way to do this, but alternatively the end screw could be removed by heating up the glue holding it in.  Taking off a few inches of the pole also compensated for the additional weight, but in the feedback we've received the weight hasn't been an issue for customers.

The Aqua-dapter® Mk2 could be fitted directly to a pole with a 25.4mm (1 inch) outside diameter (e.g. some Brodex Poles), but it could also be fitted to a pole without any modification being necessary.
